Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of rape and sexual assault during an appearance at Southwark Crown Court.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian international is facing five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, relating to incidents alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his time in the English Premier League.

Partey was formally charged just four days after leaving Arsenal, following the expiration of his contract at the end of June 2025. He now plays for Spanish club Villarreal.

During the court session, Partey confirmed his identity before entering not guilty pleas to all six charges. He was granted bail and is expected to return for trial on November 2, 2026, at the same court.

Under the terms of his bail, Partey is permitted to continue playing football, but must notify police 24 hours in advance of any international travel and must not contact the complainants involved in the case.

His court appearance came shortly after Villarreal’s UEFA Champions League match against Tottenham Hotspur, where Partey featured as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat.

The legal proceedings remain ongoing.
