Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has revealed that the long-awaited Women’s Development Bank will be officially launched early next year to improve access to affordable financing for women entrepreneurs and small businesses across Ghana.

Dr. Forson praised the progress made so far, noting that the strategy spearheaded by Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is “impressive.” He added that he has personally reviewed the plans and is confident in the initiative’s direction.

“The Vice President is leading the formation of the bank. Early next year, when the bank is officially launched, she will speak on its operations, and I am sure everyone will be happy,” he stated.

As part of the government’s commitment to the project, Dr. Forson has allocated GH¢401 million to support the establishment and operations of the Women’s Development Bank. The investment will help enhance the bank’s ability to provide affordable loans and financial services to women-led enterprises nationwide.

He emphasized that the new bank forms a key component of wider government efforts to economically empower women and strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), ensuring they can play a more impactful role in Ghana’s development.
