Vice President Meets Cape Coast Assembly and MPs on 8-Year Development Vision

Accra – Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has engaged with a delegation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly to discuss an ambitious eight-year development plan designed to transform the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The delegation, led by Metropolitan Chief Executive George Arthur and including the Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and Cape Coast South, paid a New Year courtesy call on the Vice President, conveying goodwill and expressing optimism about renewed focus and clarity as the government advances its national “Reset Agenda.”

In a social media post, Professor Opoku-Agyemang highlighted that the team presented a detailed roadmap for the metropolis, emphasizing key projects such as the refurbishment and full operationalisation of the late President Evans Atta Mills Library and the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital.

Discussions also explored ways the government could support initiatives to make Cape Coast more vibrant and economically sustainable, complemented by local fundraising and community-driven development efforts.

The Vice President underscored the importance of inclusive governance, encouraging the Assembly to actively involve residents in decision-making processes to build ownership and public commitment to development initiatives. She further stressed that metropolitan development plans should align with the broader national agenda to ensure long-term growth and sustainability.
