The Deputy Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, Constance Debordes, says specialized training remains the most effective tool in combating human smuggling.

Speaking at a four-day capacity-building workshop for officers in the Weija Sector, she stressed the need for strong knowledge of local and international laws, standard operating procedures, and practical investigative skills.

She noted that officers must be equipped to identify trafficking indicators early while protecting the rights and dignity of victims.

She added that the training forms part of a broader national effort to strengthen the capacity of over 1,750 security personnel to tackle irregular migration.
