The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect allegedly linked to multiple robbery, rape and defilement cases at Okorase Junction 3 near Koforidua.
The suspect, identified as Isaac Anim, was arrested following what police described as an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID).
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Affairs Unit and signed by Public Relations Officer Bridget Opoku, investigations began on June 15, 2026, after a woman reported that she had been attacked, robbed and sexually assaulted.
Police said the suspect allegedly stole the victim’s iPhone 11, US$200 and a pack of food before sexually assaulting her and fleeing the scene.
“The Regional Police Intelligence Department commenced investigations into an assault, robbery and rape case reported by a female victim at Okorase Junction 3,” the statement said.
The Command said the suspect was arrested at his hideout in Awukugwa, near Adukrom, on Friday, June 26, 2026.
A search conducted during the arrest led to the recovery of the victim’s mobile phone.
According to police, the suspect allegedly used the victim’s SIM card in the stolen phone to fraudulently withdraw money through a mobile money vendor.
“A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of the phone, which he had used with the victim’s SIM card to fraudulently withdraw money from a mobile money vendor,” the statement added.
Police further disclosed that the suspect was transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigations, where he was linked to six additional cases involving alleged robbery, rape and the defilement of a 10-year-old girl in the Okorase area.
The Eastern Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing credible information.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
