President John Dramani Mahama has revealed plans by a private investor to establish a ferry service from Tema, designed to connect Ghana with neighboring West African countries.
Speaking during the commissioning of Phases 1 and 2 of the Tema Port Expansion Project on November 14, President Mahama explained that the ferry service will transport vehicles, passengers, and goods, enhancing regional trade and connectivity.
“The private sector maritime operator has approached us to set up a ferry service to countries along the West African coast from Tema. The ferries will carry vehicles, passengers, and cargo between Ghana and other West African states,” he said.
The President assured that the government will provide full support to ensure the success of the initiative. “We will give all the necessary encouragement to establish this service and boost the exchange of goods among our people,” he added.
