Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has been granted bail of GH¢50 million by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as investigations into allegations of economic and organised crime continue.
According to a report by citinewsroom.com on October 2, 2026, the MP was granted bail with three sureties following his appearance at EOCO’s offices.
Baffour Awuah voluntarily reported to the agency at about 10 a.m. to assist investigators with the ongoing probe.
His appearance came after an arrest warrant was issued by the Accra High Court following EOCO’s claim that earlier attempts to secure his attendance for questioning had been unsuccessful.
The investigation centres on allegations including criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and tax-related offences, among other matters.
Baffour Awuah has denied receiving the alleged GH¢2.2 million in legal fees connected to the matter.
He has also disputed aspects of EOCO’s account regarding previous attempts by the agency to have him report for questioning.
The MP’s latest engagement with EOCO follows a period of disagreement over the circumstances surrounding the investigation and efforts to secure his attendance.
EOCO has maintained that its investigations remain ongoing and has cautioned against concluding the culpability of any individual before the investigative and judicial processes have been completed.
The agency’s position means the allegations against Baffour Awuah remain subject to further investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.
The GH¢50 million bail, secured with three sureties, allows the Manhyia South MP to remain out of custody while EOCO continues its investigations into the allegations.
