A Chinese businessman has been remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing 440 bundles of T-shirts valued at GH¢3 million.

The accused, identified as Evan Yung, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing when he appeared before the court.

According to the prosecution, Yung allegedly took the items from a warehouse at Fadama in the Greater Accra Region on November 11, 2025.

Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, who led the prosecution, told the court that both the accused and the complainant are Chinese nationals residing in Osu, Accra.

The prosecution said the complainant travelled to China in May 2025 to care for his sick mother and entrusted the warehouse to Yung before leaving the country.

The warehouse reportedly contained 440 bundles of T-shirts worth GH¢3 million.

Upon his return to Ghana in November 2025, the complainant was allegedly informed by Yung that the goods had been sold to customers who had failed to make payment.

The complainant reportedly waited several weeks for the proceeds from the sales but was unable to recover the money or obtain a satisfactory explanation.

A complaint was subsequently lodged with the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.

The prosecution further told the court that Yung admitted to the offence in his caution statement to investigators.

The court has remanded him into police custody while investigations and legal proceedings continue.
