The absence of New Patriotic Party (NPP) First Vice Chairman Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, has attracted fresh attention after the party’s newly elected national executives paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
The delegation, led by National Chairman John Boadu, visited Mr Kufuor at his residence on October 8, 2026, to introduce the new leadership and seek his guidance as they begin their tenure.
In a Facebook post, the party’s Second Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, said the visit was intended to formally present the new executives to the former President.
“Today, we, the newly elected National Executives of the New Patriotic Party, led by our National Chairman, Mr John Boadu, paid a courtesy call on former President H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor at his residence to formally introduce ourselves and seek his guidance as we begin our mandate,” he wrote.
However, photographs shared online from the visit did not show Kojo Bamba, prompting some social media users to question why the party’s newly elected First Vice Chairman was absent.
The development has drawn comparisons with an earlier engagement between the new NPP leadership and the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, which Kojo Bamba also missed.
Kojo Bamba previously explained his absence
Following his absence from the meeting with Dr Bawumia, Kojo Bamba explained that he had other engagements and had sought permission from the party leadership.
“I had other engagements; that was why I couldn’t attend the meeting. I was aware of the meeting because I was informed.
“I asked for permission from the leadership, and I was permitted. So there is no bad blood between the leadership and me,” he said.
Despite that explanation, his absence from the visit to Mr Kufuor has renewed speculation among some social media users about his relationship with the party’s leadership.
Some have suggested that the First Vice Chairman could be facing difficulties within the party despite winning his position at the recent national delegates’ conference. Others have questioned whether his repeated absence from high-profile engagements points to an unresolved issue.
However, no evidence has been presented to establish that Kojo Bamba is being sidelined by the party, and his earlier explanation was that he had other commitments.
The latest absence has therefore prompted further discussion, but the reasons for his non-attendance at the visit to Mr Kufuor have not been stated in the information available.
