A family celebration in Kade in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region has turned into tragedy after three biological brothers died in a motorbike accident.
The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Abubakar Kamiru, who had recently married, his 21-year-old younger brother Abdul Bashiru Fataw, and 17-year-old Shamshu Seidu.
The three were reportedly travelling together on a single motorbike to the family home to welcome Abubakar’s newly married bride, in what was expected to be a joyful occasion for their family.
However, their journey ended at C4C Junction along the main Kade highway, where the motorbike was involved in a collision.
The exact circumstances of the accident remain unclear, and police have begun investigations into the incident.
Eyewitnesses said the force of the collision threw the three brothers onto the road, leaving them with serious injuries.
Residents and other road users who witnessed the crash reportedly rushed to the scene and tried to assist the victims before they were taken to a health facility.
Despite the efforts to save them, all three brothers were pronounced dead upon arrival.
The incident has left their family and the wider community mourning, as preparations to welcome the newly married bride were suddenly replaced by grief.
Family members reportedly received the news as a devastating blow, having been expecting to celebrate Abubakar’s marriage with his new wife.
Police officers from the Kade District Command later arrived at the scene to secure the area and assist with the removal of the bodies to the mortuary for preservation and further examination.
The fatal crash has also renewed concerns about motorcycle safety and the need for riders and passengers to observe road traffic regulations strictly.
Road users have been urged to exercise caution, while motorcyclists are reminded to wear appropriate protective helmets, avoid carrying more passengers than permitted and comply with all road safety requirements.
Police investigations are continuing as authorities work to establish what exactly led to the fatal collision.
