President John Dramani Mahama is expected to unveil Sentuo Group’s proposed US$1.3 billion Airport Garden City project in Accra on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

The large-scale development, planned for the Airport area, is expected to combine residential, hospitality, commercial and healthcare facilities, alongside a conference centre with a capacity of about 2,500 people.

The project is expected to include apartments, a hotel, shopping facilities and healthcare services, creating the potential for significant activity across several sectors of the Ghanaian economy if the planned facilities are delivered.

During the construction phase, the development could create demand for engineers, architects, artisans, technicians, equipment operators and local suppliers. Once operational, the hotel, retail and residential components could support jobs in catering, hospitality, security, cleaning and property management.

Businesses involved in logistics, maintenance, facility management and the supply of goods and services could also benefit from the development, particularly as residents, visitors and commercial operators begin using the facilities.

However, the extent of these economic benefits will depend largely on how much Ghanaian businesses and workers are involved throughout the project’s construction and eventual operations.

Local content initiatives, skills development and knowledge transfer could therefore determine how much of the economic activity generated by the project remains within Ghana.

The residential component is also expected to appeal to Ghanaian professionals, members of the diaspora and expatriates looking for accommodation with convenient access to commercial, healthcare and hospitality facilities.

The proposed conference centre could further expand opportunities for businesses involved in event management, accommodation, transportation, catering and other services linked to large gatherings.

For the wider economy, the development could contribute to increased activity in the construction and services sectors. Its overall impact, however, will depend on the pace at which the project is developed, the level of investment committed and how quickly the planned facilities become operational.

President Mahama is expected to attend the unveiling as the Special Guest of Honour, marking the formal introduction of the proposed Airport Garden City development to the public.

The event will also allow Sentuo Group to present its plans for the US$1.3 billion project, including the proposed facilities and the economic opportunities expected to come with the development.
