Preaching in the Ability to See series on the Nkwagye Kwan radio program, Dr Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim cautioned believers against choosing a church based on public opinion, warning that demons deceive people into equating popularity with truth.
He stressed that many people are too quick to follow the crowd to churches that offer no real salvation but only keep them spiritually ineffective and urged Christians to be wise to follow truth by reading the Bible carefully, listening attentively to sermons, and conducting “concrete and truthful analysis” before committing to a church.
Dr. Kuuku Dadzie argued that if today’s standards were applied in the time of Jesus Christ, many would have rejected Him for being relatively unknown and having few followers. He, however, noted that there were a few wise people who recognised Jesus as the Messiah through the truth of His message.
He pointed out that the first 120 followers of the Lord Jesus included influential figures such as Joseph of Arimathea and some synagogue leaders and scholars like Jairus and Nicodemus, who proved that true wisdom lies in evaluating truth rather than following numbers.
Dr. Ephraim warned that people today might reject a genuine church simply because it is new, unknown, or viewed as a “one-man church,” while accepting famous churches without examining whether salvation is preached there.
He concluded by pointing out that this pattern of following popular churches persists today because of the deliberate influence by demonic forces to keep people away from genuine salvation.
