The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested a man suspected of masterminding an illegal mining operation at Domeabra in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, identified as Kwadwo Fordjour, was arrested during a special operation carried out by the anti-galamsey task force.
According to information shared by Sika Official on X on July 8, 2026, the operation also led to the seizure of an excavator and the disabling of pumping machines allegedly being used for illegal mining activities.
“The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested a middle-aged man identified as Kwadwo Fordjour, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind an illegal mining operation at Domeabra in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.
“During the operation, the task force seized an excavator found at the site and disabled pumping machines allegedly being used for the illegal mining activities,” the post stated.
The operation forms part of NAIMOS’ intensified crackdown on illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, across the country.
NAIMOS, which operates under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, coordinates intelligence-led operations against illegal mining and works with other state agencies to protect Ghana’s natural resources.
