A local photographer has recounted the devastating impact of the recent floods in Accra after torrential rains submerged his studio and destroyed photography and production equipment worth more than GH¢400,000.
The heavy downpour, which hit parts of the capital on June 3, 2026, caused widespread flooding, property damage and disruptions to businesses in several communities.
Sharing his experience on X on June 4, 2026, the photographer posted a video showing the extent of the destruction caused by the floodwaters.
The footage revealed a studio filled with waterlogged equipment, including professional cameras, lighting systems, production gear and editing equipment, all reportedly damaged beyond repair.
Visibly distressed, the photographer said the loss represented years of sacrifice and investment in building his business.
“I honestly don’t know how to come back from this,” he said in the video.
“It took me eight years to acquire all these things,” he added.
The incident has drawn widespread sympathy online, with many social media users expressing support and calling for assistance to help him rebuild his business.
The photographer’s experience also highlights the recurring challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Accra during the rainy season, as flooding continues to damage homes, businesses and critical infrastructure.
The viral video has since generated significant public reaction, with many Ghanaians renewing calls for improved drainage systems and stronger flood prevention measures to protect lives and livelihoods.
