President John Dramani Mahama has warned that smuggling and counterfeiting will now be treated as economic sabotage, with public officers involved facing dismissal and prosecution.
Speaking at Jubilee House, he cited the interception of 18 diverted trucks that could have cost the state over GH¢85 million.
On cocoa, he announced emergency reforms including automatic producer price adjustments linked to global markets, a 70% FOB price guarantee for farmers, and immediate payment of COCOBOD arrears. He also revealed plans to replace foreign loans with domestic cocoa bonds.
President Mahama further disclosed energy reforms under the 24-Hour Economy Policy aimed at cutting electricity costs to support industrial growth.
