Three individuals, including a matron at Wovenu Senior High School in Tadzewu and a police officer, have been arrested for allegedly diverting food items intended for students.
The suspects were apprehended around 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, by the area’s Assembly Member, Meli Atipoe, with support from community members. They were reportedly intercepted while transporting bags of rice, cartons of tinned tomatoes and fish, as well as gallons of cooking oil believed to be part of the school’s food supplies.
Sources say the vehicle used to transport the items was being driven by a Police Sergeant from Ho, who is reportedly a close associate of the matron’s sister.
The suspects were first handed over to the Tadzewu Police and later transferred to the Dzodze Police for further investigation.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Rev. Martin Amenaki, has assured the public that a thorough probe will be conducted and that anyone found guilty will face the full force of the law.
