Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has confirmed the death of Ransford Amankwah Asomani, a 22-year-old second-year student pursuing Agribusiness Management.
According to the university’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, the student reportedly fell from the second floor of a private hostel in Ayeduase in the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026. Fellow students, assisted by the KNUST District Police Patrol Team, rushed him to the KNUST Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Dr. Bekoe stated that university management is offering counselling services to the bereaved family, friends, and colleagues to support them during this difficult time. He also confirmed that the Ghana Police Service, working together with university security, has commenced a formal investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The body has been deposited at the KNUST Hospital Mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
