World heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua was reportedly involved in a road traffic accident on Monday in Makun, Ogun State, Nigeria.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. along a busy stretch of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The vehicle conveying Joshua, a Lexus SUV bearing registration number KRD 850 HN, is said to have collided with a stationary truck. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
A reporter who spoke to PUNCH Online and participated in the rescue operation disclosed that Joshua sustained minor injuries in the incident. However, two people were confirmed dead at the scene.
The accident comes just days after Joshua’s high-profile bout in Miami, where he defeated YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul via knockout in a widely watched contest streamed on Netflix.
