Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to work closely with delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to secure victory in the party’s upcoming flagbearer election scheduled for January 31.
According to Dr Bawumia, the NPP must be repositioned and restored to its rightful standing, a task he says he is fully committed to leading if given the mandate.
He made these remarks in a Facebook post following a campaign visit to the Ayawaso North, Ayawaso East, and Ayawaso Central constituencies on Monday, December 29.
Expressing gratitude to party supporters, Dr Bawumia wrote, “Thank you for the warm reception, the hard work you have been doing on my behalf, and your continued support. This journey is for everyone and with everyone. By God’s grace, we will win together in January and continue our shared mission to restore our great party to its rightful place.”
The NPP is currently preparing to elect a new flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Earlier, delegates in the Tema East Constituency demonstrated overwhelming support for Dr Bawumia, urging him not to spend time campaigning there. They explained that their decision was already made, insisting they would vote massively in his favor.
As chants of “Bawumia no change” echoed through the auditorium, delegates refused to allow him to address them, maintaining that doing so would be unnecessary since their support for him was unwavering.
