Obuasi Police Command Apprehends 40 in Coordinated Anti-Crime Operation

In a major move to sanitize the Obuasi municipality, the Obuasi Police Command conducted a series of high-intensity dawn “swoops” on Monday, December 16, 2025. The operation resulted in the arrest of 40 suspects and the seizure of various illicit substances.

The five-hour tactical exercise, led by ASP Adam Muakalu, targeted known hideouts for drug peddlers and criminals across several suburbs. The operation featured a joint team from the Divisional Operations Unit, Obuasi District, and the Formed Police Unit (FPU).

Next Steps for the Suspects

The 40 individuals are currently in police custody, where they are assisting with ongoing investigations. The police have confirmed the following:

  • Forensic Testing: All seized items are being held at the station for forensic examination to confirm their chemical composition.
  • Prosecution: According to the District Criminal Investigations Department (DCID), suspects confirmed to be in possession of illegal substances will be arraigned before court without delay.

Detective Chief Inspector Odoom Stephen emphasized that the police would not relent in their efforts. He assured residents that these operations would be sustained to significantly reduce criminal activities and improve public safety in Obuasi.
