A fire incident caused panic and led to several students collapsing at the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (SHS) after a blaze ravaged a boys’ dormitory room on Tuesday morning, December 2, 2025.
The fire broke out around 9:00 a.m. and quickly destroyed the entire affected room in the dormitory block, consuming all student belongings and tearing through the roofing structure.
Logistical Failures Hamper Response
The efforts to control the fire were significantly hindered by logistical setbacks. Firefighters who arrived at the scene were reportedly unable to utilize the district’s fire tender because the appliance was non-functional.
Due to the lack of an operational fire engine, personnel were forced to rely on improvised methods to fight and contain the flames. This slow response allowed the fire to spread rapidly, exacerbating the damage and the subsequent panic among the student body.
Student Casualties Stabilized
The situation on campus was marked by fear and chaos, with many students rushing to help evacuate valuables from adjacent rooms. Several students collapsed during the emergency due to the panic and stress.
School authorities and community members acted swiftly to stabilize those affected. All students who passed out were given immediate attention and have since been attended to, according to school officials.
