The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has officially concluded his extensive mediation efforts in the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy conflict, urging the rival factions to guide their followers toward lasting peace and unity.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Monday, December 1, 2025, His Majesty presided over a historic face-to-face dialogue between representatives of the Mamprusi and Kusasi groups. The meeting marked a significant milestone in efforts to end decades of tension and violence in the area.
A statement issued by his Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu, expressed Otumfuo’s appreciation to both delegations for their maturity, cooperation, and willingness to engage constructively. The Asantehene emphasised that peaceful coexistence is not only necessary but inevitable.
“He urged the leaders to begin preparing the minds of their supporters to permanently put an end to violence and disorder in their communities,” the release said, underscoring his call for unity and mutual respect among the people of Bawku.
