A taxi driver was shot and killed by suspected armed robbers at American Farm in Ngleshie Amanfro, Ga South Municipality, Greater Accra Region, last Friday morning.
The victim, identified only as Kwame, was attacked around 5 a.m. while walking to pick up a vehicle at a nearby lorry station on his way to work. Four armed men riding two motorbikes reportedly confronted him near the Roman School area.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers demanded Kwame’s bag, money, and phone, but he resisted and attempted to fight them, resulting in him being shot in the rib.
Residents noted that Kwame had temporarily stopped driving his taxi and was currently working with a contractor on the Kasoa-Winneba Road project. One witness said Kwame initially underestimated the attackers, thinking they were “small boys,” which led him to confront them.
Another resident described the tense morning scene, explaining that gunshots caused widespread fear among locals. She expressed shock at the attack, noting that the incident seemed more serious than a simple robbery despite the robbers taking his belongings.
Authorities have not yet confirmed arrests, and investigations are ongoing.
