The Campaign Team of Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a leading contender in the New Patriotic Party’s 2028 flagbearer race, has strongly dismissed a news report circulated by Apex News Africa and Opera News alleging that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo instructed NPP presidential aspirants to step aside for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during a recent meeting with the flagbearer hopefuls.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, October 26, 2025, the KAA 2028 Communications Team described the report as “completely false, misleading and without any basis.”

The statement clarified that Ing. Agyepong never made such claims during his recent media engagement as portrayed by the publications.

“During the interaction, Ing. Agyepong only acknowledged that a meeting took place between the President and all aspirants. He emphasized that it was an in-camera session, and out of respect for confidentiality, he declined to disclose what was discussed,” the campaign reiterated.

The Team insisted that at no point did Ing. Agyepong suggest President Akufo-Addo attempted to influence the internal presidential race or endorse a particular individual.

“Any suggestion to that effect is a deliberate misrepresentation and an affront to journalistic integrity,” the statement added.

The campaign urged the public and NPP supporters to treat the publication with utmost disregard, describing it as a calculated attempt to mislead the party faithful and dent the credibility of Ing. Agyepong.

KAA 2028 CAMPAIGN DISMISSES FALSE MEDIA REPORT ON ALLEGED COMMENT ABOUT PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO

The attention of the Kwabena Agyei Agyepong (KAA) 2028 Campaign has been drawn to a misleading publication by Apex News Africa and Opera News claiming that Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong stated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo asked New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirants to step aside for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

We wish to make it clear that this claim is completely false and without basis. Ing. Agyepong made no such comment. The report distorts his remarks from a recent media interaction and must be treated with the utmost disregard.

During the engagement, Ing. Agyepong only acknowledged that a meeting took place between President Akufo-Addo and all aspirants. He emphasized that it was an in camera session, and out of respect for confidentiality, he declined to share what was discussed.

At no point did he suggest that the President attempted to influence the internal contest or endorse any individual candidate. Any suggestion to that effect is a deliberate misrepresentation and an affront to journalistic integrity.

The KAA 2028 Campaign remains committed to its vision of restoring integrity, discipline, and meritocracy within the New Patriotic Party. We urge the public to disregard this fabricated story and encourage media outlets to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and responsibility in their reporting.
