President John Dramani Mahama has received a formal petition seeking the removal of Supreme Court Justice Yonny Kulendi over allegations of judicial misconduct.

The petition, filed by Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta on September 30, 2025, and addressed to the Office of the President, alleges that Justice Kulendi improperly interfered in ongoing High Court proceedings related to the ambulance procurement scandal involving Republic v. Cassiel Ato Forson & 2 Others.

The complainant claims that Justice Kulendi’s alleged conduct violates the Code of Conduct for Judges and Magistrates, arguing that it compromises judicial independence and erodes public confidence in the judiciary.

Mr. Ofori-Atta confirmed to Citi News that the petition has been officially received and acknowledged by the Presidency.

While the next steps remain uncertain, the 1992 Constitution of Ghana outlines a clear process for the removal of a Supreme Court Justice under Article 146, which includes the establishment of a committee to investigate the allegations.
