The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, Emmanuel Kanchebe Derbile, has announced a $6.6 million investment in a large prefabricated classroom complex to ease the university’s infrastructure deficit.

Speaking at the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony on February 21, 2026, Prof. Derbile said the facility will accommodate about 1,000 students at a time. He disclosed that UBIDS has secured financial clearance from GETFund to complete stalled lecture halls and hostel projects on campus.

The project is being delivered through a Public-Private Partnership under a Build-Jointly Operate and Transfer (BJOT) model, involving partners such as Othniel Limited.

Additionally, a separate $6.63 million multipurpose hostel and lecture theatre complex—featuring solar power and parking for 200 vehicles—was launched in January 2026. The expansion supports UBIDS’ rising enrollment, with 2,301 new students admitted for the academic year.
