Some executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema Central constituency have locked up the local office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in protest over alleged irregularities in recent appointments.

The group claims that dedicated grassroots members who played key roles in the party’s electoral victory are being overlooked, while individuals with no known affiliation to the party are being considered for positions. They described the situation as a repeated pattern of sidelining loyal party supporters.

The action was led by the Tema Central Constituency Chairman, Benjamin Djakumah, and supported by the Constituency Secretary, Henry Davidson Ayeh, as well as the Organiser, Abdul Razak Mohammed Mutakwil.

Using padlocks and chains, the executives secured the main gate and office entrances, effectively shutting down operations at the facility and disrupting services to residents.

The protesting executives have stated that the office will remain closed until their concerns are addressed and constituency leadership is duly consulted on future appointments.
