Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel George, is set to address the media today, Monday, September 29, 2025, regarding the ongoing standoff with MultiChoice Ghana, operators of DStv, over calls to reduce subscription fees.
This comes after the Minister directed the National Communications Authority (NCA) to form a stakeholder committee to review DStv’s pricing structure in Ghana. The committee, which began its work on September 8, 2025, is scheduled to present its findings today.
Mandated to build a shared understanding of DStv pricing in Ghana, the committee was also tasked with recommending commercially viable solutions to address public concerns and the Minister’s directives. In addition, the group was instructed to develop a roadmap to tackle the issue of cross-border piracy involving DStv decoders and services imported from Nigeria.
At today’s press briefing, Minister George is expected to share the committee’s recommendations and outline the government’s next steps. The engagement could prove pivotal in resolving the impasse, which has seen tensions rise over the Minister’s threats of regulatory action and DStv’s resistance to pricing changes.
