The Ministry of Health has pushed back against claims by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) that its investigation into the alleged assault of a nurse at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital, was incomplete and lacked credibility.

Responding to the allegations, the Ministry’s Head of Communications, Tony Goodman, insisted that the investigative process was thorough and inclusive. He rejected suggestions that key individuals, particularly medical personnel, were excluded from the inquiry.

Mr. Goodman emphasized that the committee—led by Dr. Lawrence Ofori-Boadu—engaged with all relevant parties involved in the incident, including Rejoice Tsotso Bortei, the nurse at the center of the allegations.

“We spoke to every professional—nurse, medical officer, consultant, specialist, and Head of Department—who was present that day,” Goodman explained. “We even interviewed the doctor who attended to the nurse. During that session, both were present, and the doctor would confirm points with her. She did not deny any of the facts raised.”

Mr. Goodman urged the public to disregard claims that the investigation lacked engagement with key witnesses, stressing the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and fairness in addressing the issue.
