Retired security analyst Colonel Festus Aboagye has sounded the alarm that current global political dynamics could escalate into another major conflict, potentially triggering a world war.

Colonel Aboagye highlighted what he described as aggressive power moves by major global actors, including efforts by US President Donald Trump to assert dominance on the international stage.

“It’s very possible that all these dynamics could usher the world into a World War,” he cautioned, noting that the evolving international order poses serious risks to global peace and stability.

While nuclear weapons have traditionally served as a deterrent against large-scale warfare, Colonel Aboagye warned that this assumption may be weakening in today’s volatile climate. “The idea of nuclear wars being a prohibitive factor is changing,” he said, pointing to recent global developments as alarming indicators.

Using 2025 as an example, he referenced the major conflicts between India and Pakistan, emphasizing how regional disputes can escalate rapidly. “Modern warfare often begins incrementally before escalating into far more destructive phases,” he explained.

Colonel Aboagye highlighted the dangers posed by advanced weapons systems. “You bring in all these sophisticated missile systems, and before you realize, one of the parties may drop a nuclear bomb on the other,” he said, drawing parallels to the atomic bombings that ended the Second World War in 1945.

His warning comes amid growing global anxiety over rising military tensions, brinkmanship, and the increasing reliance on force as a tool of foreign policy by major powers.
