President John Dramani Mahama has called on government appointees to lead with humility, empathy, and accountability, cautioning against arrogance and emphasizing that power is temporary and a responsibility to the people.

He made the remarks during his First Anniversary Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Service at the forecourt of Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 7.

The President stressed that true thanksgiving goes beyond expressing gratitude, reflecting instead a commitment to ethical governance, national unity, and support for the nation’s most vulnerable citizens.

Looking ahead, he noted that the coming year will test the patience, resilience, and discipline of leaders, while also creating opportunities to advance reforms and accelerate development across the country.

“Let us move forward with humility, let us lead with empathy, and let us govern with courage. The year ahead will demand even more from us. It will test our resolve, patience, and discipline, but it will also offer opportunities to deepen the reforms we have started, accelerate growth, and ensure development touches every part of our country. Let us never forget that leadership is stewardship. It is temporary and fleeting. Authority is a trust held on behalf of the people,” he said.

President Mahama urged appointees to renew their dedication to selfless service, reminding them that leadership is a temporary trust meant to benefit all Ghanaians.
