Parliament has formally informed the Electoral Commission (EC) of a vacant seat in the House after the High Court ordered a rerun of the Kpandai Parliamentary Election.

In a letter dated December 4, 2025, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, notified EC Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa that the vacancy resulted from a ruling by the Tamale High Court directing that the Kpandai election be conducted again.

The judgment, delivered on November 24, 2025, stemmed from a case in which the Clerk to Parliament was listed as the 4th respondent, under Suit Number NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25.

Citing Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution, the Clerk explained that the communication fulfills Parliament’s constitutional obligation to officially declare the seat vacant and initiate the process for a fresh election in the Kpandai constituency.

The letter concludes by confirming that the Electoral Commission has been duly notified in accordance with legal requirements.
