Parliament has expressed profound sorrow over the death of the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama, describing his passing as a significant loss to the House, the nation and the people he served.
In a statement issued on Sunday, January 4, 2026, on behalf of the Speaker of Parliament, the leadership of the House and the Parliamentary Service, Parliament said Ghana had lost a dedicated and selfless public servant whose commitment to national development and constituency representation was widely acknowledged.
The statement described the late MP as a principled and hardworking legislator who discharged his duties with integrity, responsibility and a deep sense of service to his constituents. His contributions to parliamentary debates, support for development initiatives and continuous efforts to improve the welfare of residents of Ayawaso East were highlighted as key elements of his legacy.
Parliament further noted that Mr Mahama exemplified the ideals of service and philanthropy, adding that his impact within Parliament and beyond would be long remembered.
The House extended its condolences to the bereaved family, fellow Members of Parliament, constituents and all those affected by his passing. It assured them of its prayers and support during the period of mourning, while praying that the Almighty Allah grants the late MP eternal rest and gives his loved ones strength to endure the loss.
