Baffour Kwame Kusi, the Otumfuo Ankobiahene, has announced that Kuntunkuni (black cloth) is the official and only approved dress code for the burial rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manhyia Palace, Baffour Kwame Kusi underscored the solemnity of the occasion and called on the public to observe the traditional customs with respect and dignity.
He further disclosed that a curfew will take effect at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, 18th September 2025, as part of the burial protocols. Residents and visitors are expected to comply fully with this directive.
Baffour Kusi also cautioned the public against unauthorized fundraising activities in connection with the burial. He stressed that Manhyia Palace has not sanctioned any individual or group to solicit donations for the funeral and urged the public to remain vigilant.
“Anyone found soliciting funds in the name of the Asantehemaa’s burial should be reported immediately to the police,” he warned.
Preparations for the final rites of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who served with distinction as Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom, are ongoing, with traditional authorities urging unity, reverence, and adherence to cultural protocols.
