As part of its annual corporate social responsibility initiatives, the MTN Ghana Foundation has awarded 500 Bright Scholarships to deserving students and teachers for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The awards ceremony took place on Monday, 8th September 2025, at the Law Faculty of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The event underscored MTN’s continued commitment to supporting education and national development.

This year’s scholarship package includes tuition, accommodation, stipends, and laptops for 300 undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), and vocational fields. An additional 200 scholarships were awarded to teachers enrolled in public universities to upgrade their professional skills.
Speaking on behalf of MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett, the General Manager of Sustainability and Shared Value, Isaac Mate, revealed that the Foundation received 3,691 applications. Of these, 1,200 candidates were shortlisted and 500 selected based on merit and need.
“The scholarship is more than just financial aid. It’s about investing in dreams, unlocking potential, and securing Ghana’s future,” Blewett stated in his message.

He reminded beneficiaries that their achievements would have a ripple effect, benefiting not only themselves but also their families, communities, and the nation at large.
“Among you are future entrepreneurs, scientists, professors, doctors, judges, and national leaders. The future is bright, so shine brightly,” he encouraged.
The Bright Scholarship initiative was launched in 2018 as a response to the high dropout rates among first-year tertiary students due to financial constraints. Since then, MTN has supported over 1,000 students across the country.
Blewett noted that the Foundation’s vision is to empower young Ghanaians to pursue their ambitions, overcome financial barriers, and play a meaningful role in national development.
He expressed confidence that the beneficiaries would not only earn degrees but also cultivate the curiosity and resilience needed to tackle Ghana’s and Africa’s most pressing challenges.
Grateful scholarship recipients expressed their appreciation to the MTN Ghana Foundation and pledged to make the most of the opportunity.
