Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has started an intensive rehabilitation program following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained last month.
AS Monaco confirmed that the centre-back tore his left ACL during a match against Olympique Lyonnais in January. Salisu underwent successful surgery and has now returned to the gym as he works toward regaining full fitness.
Black Stars team doctor Prince Pambo visited the 26-year-old in Monaco to provide support and monitor his recovery, demonstrating the national team’s commitment to its injured players.
Salisu played in seven FIFA World Cup qualifiers, scoring two goals for the Black Stars. However, it remains uncertain whether he will be ready for the World Cup, which is set to begin on June 11.
Ghana will open its Group L campaign against Panama, followed by matches against England and Croatia.
