The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced it has secured financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance to pay a total of 14,916 health professionals currently in mandatory service.
Mr. Tony Goodman, spokesperson for the Health Ministry who signed a statement also confirmed the clearance for 14,279 rotation nurses and midwives, including Registered General, Mental Health, Community, and Public Health nurses.
He said 637 medical and dental house officers who were inducted into service on November 12, 2025 are also included.
According to him, the Ministry is transitioning away from the old system of lump-sum payments at the end of service and starting in April 2026, these professionals will receive monthly allowance payments to prevent future arrears.
Mr. Goodman said clearance is intended to settle backlogs of up to 11 months for those who began their rotations in 2025 while reports also indicate that over 7,000 out of 13,500 nurses whose previous clearances had expired have already been paid, with the remainder currently being processed.
