A GAF statement explained that the tragedy occurred around 6:20 a.m. when an unexpected surge of applicants breached security barriers and forced their way into the stadium ahead of the scheduled screening.

The Ghana Armed Forces has extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
