Chelsea Football Club has officially appointed Liam Rosenior, previously manager of Strasbourg, as their new head coach.

The 41-year-old Englishman has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract, with the option for an additional season, succeeding Enzo Maresca, who departed the club on New Year’s Day.

Rosenior will be in the stands for Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Fulham on Wednesday and is scheduled to lead his first training session on Thursday, ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third-round match against Charlton Athletic.

“I am deeply honoured to take on the role of head coach at Chelsea,” Rosenior said. “This is a fantastic opportunity, and I will give my all to help the club achieve success.”

Interim manager Calum McFarlane, who will support Rosenior during the transition, praised him as a highly capable coach but clarified he will not be offering advice.

Rosenior confirmed in his final press conference at Strasbourg that he had verbally agreed to the move, calling Chelsea “an incredible club with an outstanding squad and Club World Cup champions.”

He also revealed that his Strasbourg coaching team—including Kalifa Cisse, assistant head coach Justin Walker, and head of analysis Ben Warner—will join him at Stamford Bridge. The appointment comes as part of the BlueCo multi-club ownership group, which also owns Chelsea.
