Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary and 2026 Flagbearer hopeful, Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has strongly refuted a misleading report by Opera News that falsely attributed disparaging remarks about former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to him.
The viral article claimed that Mr. Agyepong labeled the Akufo-Addo administration as the “worst in Ghana’s history” during an interview on Asempa FM. In a statement to the media, Mr. Agyepong dismissed the report as baseless, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.
Clarifying the record, he noted that his last Asempa FM interview occurred on July 29, 2025, following his official declaration for the NPP Flagbearership, and at no point did he make the alleged comments.

“This is the third instance I have encountered fabricated reports from this portal. I have never described the government of President Nana Akufo-Addo in such terms. I remain guided by principles of respect and decorum in public discourse,” he stated.
Mr. Agyepong expressed disappointment that an online platform would spread falsehoods in a democratic space that demands responsible journalism. He urged the public to disregard the article and called on media regulators to hold such outlets accountable.

“I remain focused on my vision for the future of Ghana and the NPP. My campaign is built on truth, integrity, and service. No amount of false reporting will derail me from that mission,” he added.
