Former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to support Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the party’s upcoming presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31.

Describing him as courageous, trustworthy, and compassionate, Naa Torshie Addo said the former Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) embodies the qualities Ghana needs in its next leader.

Speaking to delegates during a campaign tour of the Atebubu/Amantin Constituency in the Bono East Region, she stressed that the NPP’s next flagbearer must be firm, compassionate, and true to his word—qualities she believes Agyapong possesses.

“NPP needs a leader with a kind heart, a man of valor, courageous. Ghana also needs a businessman as President to transform our lives. Mr. Agyapong fits those qualities because his philanthropic work and unquestionable reputation are glaring for all to see,” she said.

Naa Torshie Addo further emphasised that the party must prioritise leadership grounded in integrity, hard work, and popular appeal if it hopes to regain political power in the 2028 general elections.

“The majority of Ghanaian voters now like Kennedy Agyapong,” she added, expressing confidence that the NPP would win the 2028 elections under his leadership.

The NPP is set to hold its presidential primary to select a flagbearer for the 2028 elections. On Thursday, January 22, Agyapong and four other aspirants signed a peace pact committing to unity, respect for party processes, and support for the eventual winner.

The other presidential aspirants include former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Abetifi MP and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong; Bosomtwe MP and former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum; and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
