The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has lauded the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, describing him as the “King Solomon of our time” in recognition of his wisdom, calm leadership and outstanding contribution to peace and national unity.
The IGP made the remarks during Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s historic visit to the Ghana Police Service Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, January 6, a visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between traditional authority and law enforcement.
Mr. Yohuno said the Asantehene’s moral authority, patience and balanced approach to conflict resolution have been instrumental in addressing some of the country’s most difficult and long-running disputes.
He cited Otumfuo’s key mediation roles in the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis, the Yendi disturbances and the prolonged Bawku conflict, noting that these interventions have greatly supported police operations and enhanced public confidence in national security efforts.
“Your exceptional mediation skills, which have restored peace in numerous conflicts across our nation, compel me to describe you as the King Solomon of our time,” the IGP stated.
The tribute highlights the vital role of traditional leadership in conflict resolution and national stability, as well as the enduring partnership between the Ghana Police Service and respected traditional authorities in promoting peace and security across the country.
