The High Court in Kumasi has granted approval for the final funeral rites of legendary Ghanaian musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, to proceed as scheduled in December 2025.

This follows the court’s dismissal of an interlocutory injunction application filed by Akosua Serwaa, the musician’s wife, seeking to restrain the family from organizing the funeral until certain matters were resolved.

In her ruling, Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur held that, under Ghanaian customary law, authority over a deceased person’s remains lies entirely with the family.

She stated that halting the funeral would not serve the interest of either the family or the public.

“Accordingly, the application for interlocutory injunction is hereby refused,” the judge ruled.

The family has announced that Daddy Lumba will be laid to rest on December 6, 2025.
