The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued 26 passengers following a multiple-vehicle accident near Kintampo Waterfalls in the Bono East Region.
Three of the victims sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for medical treatment.
According to the GNFS, a distress call was received at around 3:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. A rescue team was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene at approximately 5:24 p.m.
On arrival, firefighters found several vehicles involved in collisions, including a Mercedes Sprinter that had crashed into parked cars and caught fire. The incident occurred during efforts to tow a Kia Bongo vehicle that had fallen into a pit three days earlier.
All 26 passengers trapped at the scene were successfully rescued by GNFS personnel. The Service noted that the prompt response of its team helped prevent further casualties. Investigations into the cause of the accident are currently ongoing.
