Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the reopening of its embassy in Tehran, Iran, scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The mission had been temporarily closed for security reasons amid rising tensions in the region.

The embassy was originally shut down on June 16, 2025, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of diplomatic staff during a period of heightened hostilities between Iran and Israel.

In a statement released on Tuesday, September 2, the Ministry explained that the decision to resume operations was based on a marked improvement in the security environment in Iran.
