GFA to Respond to Sports Ministry’s Comments on Black Stars Budget After Mali Clash

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has acknowledged recent statements made by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation concerning the budget for the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, assuring the public that it will issue a detailed response in due course.

In a statement released on Wednesday, September 2, 2025, the GFA said:
“As the custodian of Ghana football, the GFA will, in due course, provide clarifications to the issues raised.”

The Association stressed the importance of staying focused on the immediate task: Ghana’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

“We deem it prudent at this time to maintain our collective focus on the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Chad on Thursday, September 4 at 1:00 PM, and Mali on Monday, September 8 at 7:00 PM,” the statement added.

The GFA called on Ghanaians to continue supporting the national team through the campaign:
“The Black Stars require the unflinching support of all Ghanaians as they prepare to navigate these important encounters. The unity and commitment of our supporters have always been the team’s greatest strength, and we urge the nation to keep this spirit alive.”

According to the statement, a full response to the Ministry’s remarks will be made after the match against Mali.

“Once the match against Mali is concluded, the GFA will make its comprehensive remarks regarding the Ministry’s statements.”

The GFA also expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and support:
“We extend our sincere appreciation to all Ghanaians for their understanding and continued support for the Black Stars and all our national teams.”
