Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called for a comprehensive reform of Ghana’s mentorship architecture to better equip young people for leadership roles and bridge the gap between education and employment.

He made the appeal during an inaugural dialogue aimed at fostering a sustainable national mentorship culture. Highlighting the challenge of youth unemployment post-education, Mr. Kufuor advocated for connecting young people with experienced mentors who can provide guidance, practical training, and leadership development opportunities.

He proposed the creation of a “Mentor Coaching Academy” to offer hands-on training and structured mentorship to cultivate future leaders. The initiative, in partnership with organizations including the British Council, seeks to establish a national mentoring framework accessible to all young Ghanaians, enhancing the leadership pipeline and producing skilled professionals for national growth.
