Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has refuted claims that he performed poorly in Zongo communities during the 2024 general elections.
Addressing party supporters in the Adansi Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10, Dr. Bawumia described the allegations as unfounded propaganda, lacking any factual basis.
“There’s this propaganda going around that Muslims and Zongo communities didn’t vote for me. When I heard it, I asked, ‘Where is the data to back that up?’ I deal with facts, not rumours,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that such narratives are being pushed for political convenience and do not reflect the reality on the ground.
“Just recently, I heard one presidential aspirant say that I won only one polling station in all the Zongos. That’s simply not true,” he added.
He urged party members to focus on unity and the facts, rather than being distracted by misinformation meant to sow division ahead of future political contests.
