One person has been confirmed dead and at least four others injured in a fatal road accident on the Koforidua–Nyamekrom stretch in the Eastern Region.
The incident, which occurred near the Jehovah’s Witness Church in Nyamekrom, involved a head-on collision between an Opel Astra B taxi (registration GS 4492-Z) and a Honda Civic (registration GR 5529-22).
According to Enoch Boahene, Assembly Member for the Nyamekrom Electoral Area—who narrowly avoided the crash while riding his motorcycle nearby—the taxi driver was speeding and attempted a wrongful overtaking, resulting in the collision.
The injured victims were rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
