On Sunday, during his ongoing “Ability to See” teaching series on AP Radio 105.7, preacher Dr. Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim strongly cautioned against the cultural mindset that equates fathering many children with prestige. He described this belief as not only misguided but also spiritually dangerous.
Dr. Ephraim criticized the tendency—common in some African extended families—where men boast about the number of children they have, even when they fail to support them emotionally, financially, or spiritually. He called such behavior “demonic and rebellious against God.”
Quoting 1 Timothy 5:8, he reminded listeners that “any man who does not provide for his household has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” He emphasized that neglecting one’s children is not only a social failing, but also a grave spiritual offense.
He went on to say that both fathers who abandon their responsibilities and women who knowingly bring children into unstable situations share guilt for the suffering of those children. “God will hold both parties accountable,” he warned.
Dr. Ephraim urged believers to pursue God’s design for the family — one where fathers lead with provision and mothers nurture with wisdom under God’s direction. He condemned men who brag about their many children while those children suffer in poverty, lack education, or fall into crime. “They are not celebrating fatherhood,” he said, “they are celebrating the burdens they have pushed onto society.”
He also rebuked women who take pride in having children by multiple men without any form of family structure, calling them “careless mothers who are thinking wrongly.”
Dr. Ephraim concluded by stating that true honour is not in the number of children one has, but in the faithful and righteous upbringing of those children. “That is what reflects the heart of God as our Father,” he said.
